چکیده

ISP fixation has been shown to be a safe and efficacious alternative to traditional methods of posterior spinal fixation. A high degree of biomechanical stability and reliable fusion rates are achieved with preservation of adjacent level structures when using new iterations of rigid interspinous fixation. Since ISP devices do not violate adjacent facet joints, they potentially can decrease the incidence of adjacent segmental degeneration. ISP devices such as the ZIPTM from Aurora Spine Inc. (Carlsbad, CA) are increasingly gaining acceptance among treating physicians due to decreased surgical and hospitalization time, reduced complication rates and estimated blood loss, as well as the complimentary effect of decreased overall costs for the procedure.

Biomechanical Comparison of Spinal Fusion Methods Using Interspinous Process Compressor and Pedicle Screw Fixation System Based on Finite Element Method.

OBJECTIVE To investigate the biomechanical effects of a newly proposed Interspinous Process Compressor (IPC) and compare with pedicle screw fixation at surgical and adjacent levels of lumbar spine. METHODS A three dimensional finite element model of intact lumbar spine was constructed and two spinal fusion models using pedicle screw fixation system and a new type of interspinous devices, IPC,...

The concept of dynamic stabilisation of the lumbar motion segment using an interspinous device was first introduced by Professor Jacques

The concept of dynamic stabilisation of the lumbar motion segment using an interspinous device was first introduced by Professor Jacques Sénégas in the 1980s. His original first-generation implant comprised a titanium interspinous process spacer to accommodate load sharing and to limit extension. This was combined with two Dacron bands that controlled flexion movements. In contrast with other f...

Intractable Chronic Low-Back Pain Caused by Ligamentopathia Treated Using a Spinous Process Plate (S-plate)

We report a case of intractable chronic low-back pain in a gymnast that was caused by ligamentopathia in the interspinous region of the lumbar vertebrae. Sprained interspinous ligaments are a common mechanical cause of acute low-back pain in athletes. Although conservative therapy is generally effective in such cases, in this case it was not. The patient experienced severe low-back pain during ...

A Novel Nonpedicular Screw-Based Fixation in Lumbar Spondylolisthesis

Objective. The authors present the clinical results obtained in patients who underwent interspinous fusion device (IFD) implantation following posterior lumbar interbody fusion (PLIF). The purpose of this study is investigating the feasibility of IFD with PLIF in the treatment of lumbar spondylolisthesis. Methods. Between September 2013 and November 2014, 39 patients underwent PLIF and subseque...

Effects of interspinous spacers on lumbar degenerative disease

The present study aimed to evaluate the early effects of interspinous spacers on lumbar degenerative disease. The clinical outcomes of 23 patients with lumbar degenerative disease, treated using interspinous spacer implantation alone or combined with posterior lumbar fusion, were retrospectively studied and assessed with a visual analogue scale (VAS) and the Oswestry Disability Index (ODI). Pre...
